Show answer

Expected results:

  • D2 = Star
  • D3 = Good
  • D4 = Fair
  • D5 = Poor

How it works

Explanation: AND and OR can be used inside the conditions of IFS. The strictest rule goes first, and the order of the rules matters.
Syntax: =IFS(AND(B2>=90,C2>=90),"Star",OR(B2>=90,C2>=90),"Good",AND(B2>=50,C2>=50),"Fair",TRUE,"Poor")
Rahul has 95 and 92: Star. Priya has one mark above 90: Good. Amit has 60 and 55: Fair. Neha has 40 and 30: Poor.

IFS syntax

=IFS(logical_test1, value1, [logical_test2, value2], ...)

Checks multiple conditions in order and returns the value for the first one that's true. IFS is used to build decision rules directly into a spreadsheet instead of manually judging each row. Full IFS guide.
